Before starting my self-portrait, I sketched out the overall composition, and researched artists that would inspire me stylistically for this painting. I took inspiration mostly from Berthe Morisot.

The color palette I chose consisted of tan browns, purples, and pinks. On the actual canvas, I first loosely blocked out some shapes and shadows. I’ve found this helps make the process of a portrait feel less daunting.
