  • Writing Samples

During my time at Agnes, I was able to explore writing in many different forms. I’ve been given the freedom to delve into fiction, non-fiction, and even copywriting for brands. These are a few samples of the writing I’ve done during my time there.

“The eight of them sat with their heads leaning over the sandalwood table, speaking in hushed voices. Trading influence, better food shipments or meetings with their more important bosses.  Here they shed their fronts as devoted heads of families and became the brass tightens of industry and power. All while their children were just out of earshot, taking their dinner in the conversion pit. The elegant sitting room’s sculptural, clean lines and bright turquoise accents did their best to make the room feel comfy. However, the floor-to-ceiling glass divider mirrored the caustic atmosphere.

The sumptuous white leather couches, glass, and open-weave rattan coffee table acted as their weekly prison as they sat at a stalemate. Each of them lay across one of the couches, consumed in their world, determined to ignore the others until nine p.m., when they’d be collected and allowed to go home. “

Originally, I was new to printmaking and plate making, and I thought it would be interesting to use reclaimed paper objects. I use the wrapper from a sanitary napkin, the packaging from a gift card, yogurt packaging and packing filament to make my plate. Next was learning how to add ink to the board, and finally operating the printing press. Once the initial prints had dried, we innovated them by adding additional texture and glue to the board to improve the prints. This process was meant to leave us with four prints. Once that was done, we were asked to do a close looking of two animals. I decided to study hummingbirds and shrimp because of the texture of the sanitary wrapper and packing paper. Then I photoshopped the two animals together so I could study their combined anatomy. Once that was done, I made prototypes of the animal out of butcher paper. Finally, I made an advanced prototype out of the thicker printing paper. I cut the Individual pieces out of my print, then taped them together, mimicking the previous prototypes.
