About Me

Eliza Eckert is currently a junior Creative Writing major at Agnes Scott College. She grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and was a creative writing major during middle and high school at Charleston County School of the Arts. Throughout her seven years at the School of the Arts, she won several gold and silver keys from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. During her senior year of high school, she won one of two gold keys awarded in the Lowcountry for her portfolio. She loves to write short stories and film scripts, often about complex and taboo emotions surrounding childhood and death. Her short story, “Red Leather, Yellow Leather”, was one of six fiction finalists of the 2025 Agnes Scott Writers’ Festival Contest.

Despite it being her favorite thing to do, Eliza does not spend much of her time writing. Instead, she frequently draws, rewatches movies, goes out with her friends, and dreams up impractical travel plans.
