3d art projects!

This fall semester I have had the pleasure of taking a 3-dimensional thinking class. It ranged from learning collagraph printing to making a table. We also went on field trips, like visting a sculpture show at GSU and going to a local artist’s house to see his process of creating wooden figures.

the collagraphs

These were super fun to make! We were instructed to find textures that intrigued us, and to combine them on a piece of plyboard. I used pieces of a mask, some leaves, pieces of pill sheets, and papers with serrated edges.

These are 2 of my favorites, which happened to be ghost prints. They were pressed through the printing machine in a tedious process. I love all the unexpected shapes.

the table

Making something wooden completely from scratch was extremely time consuming but very rewarding. It was made by biscuit joinery, which consists of cutting slots into the pieces of wood you want to join and then put the tiny pieces of wood (the biscuits) with glue to join them together.

Lots of measuring and sanding! Very tedious

the final product!
